Summer Stress Takes No Vacation as Companies Turn to Marketplace Chaplains

With the heat of the summer bearing down on much of the country and the heat of employee problems always on people’s minds, many U.S. and international companies are turning to a unique and proactive service to help them handle the demands of employee stress.

Polara Engineering in Corona, California, is one of several West Coast companies turning to Marketplace Chaplains, America’s original and largest workplace chaplaincy organization, to help with the stress of summer jobs.

“Marketplace Chaplains has given my employees an outlet for the stresses of life. It’s a channel of hope, a very encouraging factor,” said Vice President of Operations Lynn Mack.

“In the summertime, people think it’s supposed to be more carefree, but often it’s not, especially if you have kids out of school and they’re looking for something to do. Our chaplains are down-to-earth people who help us deal with the stresses of life. “Many people are expecting a vacation and then find out they can’t take one or there are other issues. “Our benefit satisfaction is way up with the help of the chaplains,” continued Mack.

Polara is one of nearly 30 West Coast companies in more than 100 locations that use the services of Marketplace Chaplains, and they are grateful for not only the summer stress relief but the year-round relief as well.

“After a sudden death of one of our employees this summer, the chaplains from Marketplace Chaplains not only helped our employees cope with the loss but were with the employees’ family members during the difficult time,” said Nichole Moor, Human Relations Coordinator for Mark Beamish Waterproofing Inc. in Anaheim, California. “The family could not thank us enough for the service. We are thankful to have a resource for our employees and their families during times like this.”

Marketplace Chaplains provides more than two dozen services for employees and their family members for companies of all sizes and industries. Everything from hospital visitations, to weekly office visits and crisis intervention, is covered by the male and female chaplains assigned to each company.

Usage is often higher during the summer when many employees expect a summer break, but often find it more stressful than normal.

Mike Curtis, VP of Operations at Wilbur Curtis, in Montebello, California, agreed that having a Marketplace chaplain as part of his company benefits package, “…has made a big difference for us,” said Curtis.

“These visionary executives on the West Coast have found out what hundreds of others have discovered around the world, that workplace stressors know no summer break or season,” said Marketplace Founder Gil A. Stricklin. “Having a trained, caring Marketplace Chaplain is one of the smartest decisions they can make for their company.”

Marketplace Chaplains currently serves in 689 companies in 1,061 locations across the country and in countries in the UK, North America and the Far East, helping to heal the hopes and hurts of employees and their family members.
