Although Employee Healthcare Changes, Marketplace Chaplain Care Remains Constant since 1984
Even though employers and employees are bracing for the unknown as the much-discussed Affordable Care Act for America brings a wave of change, some HR professionals nationally are using the unique strategic initiative of Marketplace Chaplains in their companies to deal with the varied workplace issues.
“The chaplains are able to communicate with our employees and help to keep our business on a personal level, while in a business setting,” said Kenda Fink, Director of Human Resources for ALN Medical Management LLC, based in Lincoln Nebraska.
Fink said her company has seen many changes, some currently unknown with the new law, better known by its nickname, “Obamacare,” but having Marketplace Chaplains serve their company has been a reassuring presence.
“When you have an employee who needs special attention and care, it’s good to know there is someone to depend on, someone who has the specific training I may lack,” said Fink.
Nationwide, companies as diverse as mining company, Intrepid Potash, or Texas’ beverage distributor, Del Papa, use Marketplace Chaplains to care for their employees, and to prepare for the next workplace change whether mandated by the government or desired by individual employees.
“We have had an employee who was married by a Marketplace Chaplain and we’ve had people with very serious illnesses; the chaplains are able to help with whatever needs we may have,” said Fink.
The unique Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is currently serving in 44 states, 932 cities and in 2,730 client service locations in North America, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the U.K.
Marketplace Chaplains employs more than 2,600 chaplains who care for over half a million employees and their family members.
There are 23 different industry types being served by Marketplace Chaplains, from Fortune 500 companies to small, family-owned businesses. This exceptional level of care has been delivered unchanged since its founding in 1984.
“Changes in the workplace and changes in our lives are an inevitable part of life and these visionary corporate leaders recognize that having chaplains care for their employees, their greatest asset, is an invaluable resource in their management toolbox,” said Marketplace Chaplains’ President and COO Dick De Witt.
